Consisting of 26 bones and its joints, the foot is a very complex organ that allows us to walk , run and jump. Fits the uneven ground, withstands pressures and body weight throughout life.

Feet's support points
Projected body weight on the foot is supported by three support points which result in what is known as plant tripod , comprising a subsequent point , the heel , and two previous points , the first and fifth metatarsals .

The tripod planting : form the plantar arch , which receives the load of the body weight .This is multiplied by 2 or 3 during running and 4 or 5 by jumping.

The abnormal morphology of the arch causes the most common diseases of the foot as a result of alterations in the distribution of body weight and improper support: flatfoot , cavus , varus and valgus .

Abnormalities that cause abnormal points of support
The valgus foot or pronation occurs when the support is carried inwards , on the contrary , the varus or supination occurs when the support is outward. Flat feet can be due to laxity of ligaments or a deformity of the plantar arch . Conversely , the foot arches have excessive curl , which causes the bearing surface is less than adequate .these pathologies can cause multiple ailments not only in the foot but also in other areas of the lower extremities : joint problems, ankle and knee tendinitis , plantar fasciitis, muscle overload , spurs, metatarsalgia , etc.
