Beetroot is a natural remedy for constipation, so much so that in case of constipation, it is best to consume this food, together with plums.
This biennial herbaceous plant constituted of edible roots and leaves with the shape of a heart.The use of red beet; also commonly called "turnip" as medicine goes back to ancient Greece.
Beetroot juice benefits
This particular tuber is considered a true concentrate of beneficial substances, because it contains:
• plenty of water, since turnip comprises 91% liquids, good for fluid retention ;
• Betaine, substance involved in metabolism and helpsto fight free capillary and level the cholesterol amount in the blood, reducing the hypertension risk.
• Fiber, soluble and insoluble, able to keep under control the cholesterol sugar level.
• Minerals calcium, iron, sodium , potassium , magnesium and iodine, useful to body remineralize.
• Vitamin B effective in strengthening the immune system and the digestive system and help to produce red blood cells and white blood.

In case of chronic constipation, is recommended to the elderly people consume daily at least 100 to 150 grams of boiled beets, which also plays a beneficial diuretic action.
For pregnant women, however, consumption of beet is particularly recommended by the folic acid presence, useful in cardiovascular disease prevention and stroke since reducing homocysteine levels.

Also you can cut the beet raw into small pieces,peel the shell and then liquify with water, and drink without strain.
* The proportion is 2 cups of water per one beetroot.
