Cholesterol And Diet
Cholesterol is a substance found only in meat , poultry, fishes and animal products such as eggs, milk and cheese. The plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, etc. , do not contain cholesterol.
There are two kinds of cholesterol : one is lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL ) which is produced by the body and is necessary to maintain optimum health, the second class is cholesterol low density lipoprotein (LDL ) is the bad cholesterol and cause the most health problems.
The meat, animal products, oils, fats of all kinds are the greatest food responsible for low density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL). Thus these elements should disappear from the diet.
The ideal diet to lowering cholesterol is a low in protein and natural fats, such as avocados, nuts, etc and high in complex carbohydrates, which are whole grains, vegetables, legumes, peas, beans, tubers ( potatoes), fruits , honey, etc.
How to fight cholesterol
Cholesterol can also be reduced by a diet high in fiber. All grains are rich in fiber. The red spring wheat and hard was mentioned by a scientist from the U.S. government in 1978 as a factor of the 17 % reduction in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
If people eat foods that have complex carbohydrates high in natural fiber would not have the current high cholesterol epidemic. How more natural is the food, therefore better it is. Oat bran, for example is a complete natural food, because the bran has been separated from oats . It would be better use oatmeal instead oat bran.
Cholesterol and vitamin D
Another way to lower cholesterol is by sunbathing . It is important to note that there is a close relationship between cholesterol and vitamin D, because when skin´s cholesterol is exposed to sunlight, easily transforms into vitamin D and thereby is harmful to the body.
It was in 1904 that a scientific research discovered that sunlight was able to transform cholesterol into vitamin D.Human skin has a rich cholesterol supply, and this cholesterol is kept in constant motion between the skin and the bloodstream.
If it is removed from the skin, bloodstream cholesterol moves to replace the lost cholesterol. It has been discovered that sunlight will cause a cholesterol reduction in the skin and also affect cholesterol metabolism throughout the entire body.
