Pure essential oils
They are a mixture of volatile aromatic substances present in the flowers, leaves, fruits, seeds and other plant parts and which give them their characteristic aromatic odor.
Although called " oils " and having an oily touch, have nothing to do with oils used for cooking such as olive or sunflower oil.
The best essential oils are those obtained by distillation or pressure .No all essential oils we can find in the market are suitable for internal use.

Many of the essential oils that are marketed, although pleasant odor are rectified essential oils or aromatic mixtures, obtained by solvent extraction and are for environmental purposes and cosmetics.
Essential oils properties
Most essential oils are antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral , hence its anti-infective properties and its uses as antiseptics and purifiers, however each one also has specific properties.Essences can exert a local action;general and reflex action.
* The local action occurs in the essence's application site, without penetration into the circulation;skin and mucous membranes.
* The general action occurs after essence´s penetration in the circulation, and its effect is observed in different organs that are related to it.
* The reflex action is exerted on a body organ that is not in contact with the substance or has no affinity for it. For example, some essences exert a gastrointestinal activity that is caused by a reflection effect across the smell .
Use mode
They are very active substances to be used with caution following the professional recommendations or those described in the product.
Internal use
To avoid oral mucosa irritation, instead of taking them directly , taken with food is recommended. They can be mixed with a hot drink, milk, yogurt , cream, oil, honey, alcohol, or a little sugar cube . It is important not to exceed the recommended dose.
External use
Essential oils are well absorbed through the skin and is rapidly distributed throughout the body, so also when applied externally must be cautious about doses.
