Diabetes, Eyes And Feet
Diabetes can damage the eyes, and sometimes there are no early symptoms. So you do not have idea that something is wrong and that your view is in danger.
These are the main eye problems that may be caused or aggravated by diabetes.
Cataracts:
Often described as a eye clouding. They are treatable through the surgical procedure in most cases.
Glaucoma :
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that have as common final condition an optic neuropathy characterized by progressive loss of nerve fibers in the retina and changes in the appearance of the optic nerve. Something that makes it relevant to this condition is that in most of the affected people have no symptoms in the early stages of the disease, when they occur , are usually visual field defects and vision loss .
The appearance of these symptoms may mean that the disease is in advanced stage of its evolution. Is there unusual eye pain in chronic glaucoma, but is common in acute glaucoma ( angle-closure glaucoma ), which can cause severe symptoms from its beginning.
One of the main factors that may influence the glaucoma onset is high intraocular pressure, although there is no exact correlation between glaucoma and intraocular pressure, as some people may develop the disease with figures of intraocular pressure considered normal and yet in other cases there are high numbers without any ocular impact occurs.
There are several types of glaucoma, each of which has a different origin and evolution, so the general definition set forth above may not apply to all forms of this disease. Most cases are due to called chronic simple glaucoma.
Diabetic retinopathy :
Covers the back of our eyes , the tissue is light sensitive and is often known as the retina. The retina consists of very small blood vessels that can be damaged by diabetic retinopathy. Sometimes there are comparable signs like blurred imaginative and prescient vision, but often not even know that something is wrong until the condition is advanced. In the worst case , leading to blindness.
