 Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated in China and over the years has become a popular therapy throughout the world.

It is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine. The process involves inserting acupuncture needles at various points in the body. The basics of weight loss with natural remedies and alternative medicine revolve around the management of vital energy known as Chi or Qi in Chinese.

Qi is considered to be the energy flow of life in Chinese philosophy. It is probably inherent in all things. The Chinese theory believed that Qi  crosses the paths known as meridians.

There are 20 meridians in the body of which 12 are primary and related to specific organs or functions. The other eight are called secondary meridians.

Any imbalance in the flow of Qi in these meridians caused by a blockage in the body is considered to be the root cause of all disease and health disorders including obesity.

There meridians are used for acupuncture specialist to stimulate and restore the normal flow and balance of Qi. This is the process that is used to treat all diseases.

Modern science however believes that acupuncture needles really stimulate the release of endorphins, a natural neurochemical that has analgesic properties. The increase in endorphins gives a temporary sense of well being.

For weight loss
As for weight loss relates acupuncture try to restrict unhealthy appetite and desire for food. It also removes excess water from the body and stimulates the pituitary gland, the master gland of the endocrine system to burn extra fat.

An acupuncturist inserts five needles, four point to specific organs - kidneys, liver, lungs and nervous system. The fifth is inserted just to calm an anxious patient. According to TCM theory this releases blocked energy and suppresses the appetite and craving for sweets.

The American acupuncturists have developed a process in the ear with staples for weight loss. In this process, only the top and bottom of each ear is stapled. This method is less secure than the conventional method of inserting needles because the needles are removed after each session, while the ear staples are  left in your ears for days. The ear cartilage is not resistant to infection and therefore is not recommended by traditional acupuncturists.

The acupuncture treatment for weight loss has been around for years but no scientific proof of its effectiveness than the release of endorphins.

However, it is not known to cause harmful effects while are sterilized needles. It is not involved the ingestion of any artificial remedy of weight loss that its effectiveness is questioned by skeptics. In light of this evidence, there seems to be no harm in using acupuncture along with exercise to weight loss.
