People often asked "what should we do first, aerobics or weights?" This question is for the case of if we wish to do weights and cardio during the same training session. This means that not apply to training in double shifts, or at times separated from each other.
Personally, if we are trying to reduce our body fat deposits always do our exercises with dumbbells first, before my cardio exercises. I think this is key for those who have a high carbohydrate intake.
The reason is simple physiology: the weights always require carbohydrates to supply energy requirements. Exercising aerobically is probably a waste of carb if done at first.
However, if the weights are used first then the carbohydrates are used first emptying the tanks so that when we have to do aerobic exercise is forced to use existing fat deposits.
Furthermore, in my view of the training, if done aerobic workout before the weights, do an energy waste that practically make inefficient the weights routine.
This is another reason why I leave my cardio after lifting weights.
It is much easier and efficient, do weights first because by the time it comes to do weights, I'll be tired and jaded and used some of my weight fuel (carbohydrates) in aerobic exercise which also means that I will have burned less body fat which is what I wanted to achieve at the beginning. In other words, my enthusiasm to do weights is very lower than if I had done it at the beginning, so my energy level would be much lower.
It's like there are two "modes of power": the fat burning for aerobic exerciseand anaerobic exercises necessary: weight, strength that are carbohydrates.
And it is important to clarify that in any exercise you perform both types of fuel burned, carbohydrates and fats. The difference is in the proportions. Aerobic exercise mainly tends to burn body fat, this fuel is as slow combustion of oxygen required for use. Anaerobic exercise on the other hand need of carbohydrates, which is our main source of fuel and a source, i.e. immediately.
Therefore, if you plan to do a training session with both types of exercises, my recommendation is first start with weights workout, and then switching to the aerobic exercises. In this way we will make a waste of energy more efficient and intelligent. That would be reflected in our body.
