More About Antioxidants
Natural antioxidants have been in vogue since some time ago to the date; however, many people do not know they are exactly. Antioxidants are substances or nutrients present in our food that can prevent or delay the oxidative damage in our body. When the cells of our body use oxygen, in almost everything we do every day, naturally produce free radicals that can cause harm.
Antioxidant food and free radicals.
Antioxidants act as "hunters of free radicals" and help to prevent and repair the damage caused by them. The health problems such as diseases of the skin, anti-aging, heart disease, macular degeneration, diabetes and cancer are aggravated by the oxidative damage.
We can appreciate how important it is for us introduce these "hunters of free radicals" to our bodies every day, especially if we present some problem diseases.
What foods contain antioxidants?
Daily nutrition intake
Luckily for you and for me, the list of foods that contain antioxidants is quite long - vegetables, fruits, most of the nuts, fish, and shellfish, grains, eggs, chicken, cucumber, beet, orange, lemon, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, carrots and garlic are only a few examples of some great healthy foods that your hunters need every day.
There are some foods that are particularly high and famous for their abilities to destroy free radicals. These are some of my favorites:
Blackberries of Acai
Acai is a fruit that grows in the Acai palm trees in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. Blackberry of acai is small in size (smaller than a grape) and has a dark purple in color. Although small, is full of antioxidants and amino acids, in addition is considered one of the most nutritious fruits of the Amazon basin.
Acai has 10 times the antioxidant power of red grapes and twice that of blueberries.
I am not going to tell you that this fruit is the cure for all your evils and illness that many websites of the internet proclaim since theyt want to sell their supplements of blackberry acai. The blackberry of acai is a wonderful antioxidant and is a great addition to your healthy food plan.
It is interesting to add that is not a fruit that becomes the star to help you lose weight as many would like to believe.
We will continue with this theme in the next article (Part 2).
