Classification of the sprained ankle
sprain 1st degree: They are less serious, since only involve functional disability and mild pain. These show a slight swelling, sometimes none and behave minor damage of ligaments.

2nd degree sprain: are more serious because they involve a major damage to the ligaments, which increases the degree of pain or dysfunction. The swelling is more pronouncedand there is a abnormal mobility. Such lesions tend to be repeated.

Ankle Sprain 3rd degree (chronic ankle pain): They are the most serious and pose a rupture of the cruciate ligament affected. The intensity of the damage, the pain, swelling, and hemorrhage are important and associated with a significant loss in the stability of the joint.

First aid kit
The base for the initial care of  ankle trauma is formed by the following words:
rest, ice, compression, and elevation.
• Stop the activity being undertaken and remove footwear with care.
• Exploring the region and discard wounds in the skin.
• Avoid stepping and rest.
• Ice 20 minutes.
• Raise the ankle.
• Take the patient to the emergency service or consult with doctor to perform a diagnosis and specific treatment.
